Job Description:

  • Receive suggested order requirements through ERP. Communicates orders and schedules needs with applicable suppliers.
  • Requisition documents for order entry process. Accuracy is critical regarding all aspects of the document formatting.
  • Proof newly created or revised order documents prior to signature of contract acceptance, taking corrective actions when applicable.
  • Review work order and production lists to identify and address specialty materials with emphasis on lead times in consideration of production scheduling and inventory management.
  • Expedite material requirements against manufacturing schedule.
  • Coordinate material quotations and cost maintenance.
  • Monitor and report on vendor/product performance on an ongoing basis.
  • Report cost and vendor performance on focus product/vendor assignments.
  • Research and evaluate vendor/product alternatives on an ongoing basis.
  • Represent the Purchasing Department through participation in committee and (intra/inter) departmental meetings and activities.
  • Evaluate business matters for compliance with departmental and company policy.
  • Monitor purchase involvement of employees outside the Purchasing Department.
  • Follow company policies and procedures at all times.
  • Follow proper safety rules and procedures at all times.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Ability to perform high volumes of varied activities on a regular basis.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and activities concurrently.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbal, in a business environment and deal with a diverse public.
  • Must be able to analyze cost data for products/services and develop management recommendations as to the financial and operations benefits/consequences.
  • Must be self-motivated and maintain high level of personal initiative.
  • Must be highly organized.
  • Must work as a team member, maintaining a positive attitude toward planning changes and management philosophy and deviations from the standard norm.
  • Must present oneself in appearance, attire, attitude, and presence indicative of the job environment.
  • Understanding of mechanical, electronic, and electrical products required.
  • Typing skills required.
  • Proficiency with word processing, database, and spreadsheet applications required.
  • Ability to work with multiple, critical, and varied deadlines in a high stress situation required.
  • Must subscribe to a high level of ethical standards.
  • Minimum high school diploma or equivalent certificate required.
  • College degree preferred.
  • Material management experience with a focus on procurement desirable.
